I'm running for awareness because...
Gentle Giants Need Your Help!
Manatees and dugongs around the world need our protection due to threatened habitats, injuries, sickness and overhunting, and you can make a difference. Found throughout the warm waters of North and South America, Asia, Australia and Africa, these marine mammals are magnificent creatures to behold and play an important role in their native ecosystems. Through conservation and rehabilitation efforts, we can contribute to the survival of these vulnerable and endangered animals.

These species include the West Indian Manatee, the Amazonian Manatee, the West African Manatee and the Dugong. Created as an independent project by Wendy Lynn Parlier, the aim of Marathon Aquatica is to complete seven marathons on seven continents raising funds and awareness for nonprofit organizations dedicated to protecting the lives of manatees and dugongs.
